Thames & Kosmos CHEM C1000 Science Kit

Gracie & Gruff has been notified by Filosofia, the distributor for Thames & Kosmos product in Canada, that the Chem C1000 Chemistry set does not comply with Canadian Law because of the following points:

1. Missing warnings statements and bilingual instruction manual as required by the Scientific Educational Sets Regulations.
2. Missing mandatory warning statement.
3. Non compliant child resistant container must be constructed so that it can be opened only by operating, puncturing or removing one of its functional and necessary parts using a tool that is not supplied with the container.  The tool to open the child resistant containers is supplied with the Thames & Kosmos kits, and is therefore non-compliant.

The labelling for the kit is being corrected so this product may be sold on the Canadian market.

Schylling Ironing Board

Gracie & Gruff has been notified by Schylling Associates that the Ironing Board (Item Number IB, UPC code 019649216369) has failed a test done by Health Canada's Product Safety Laboratory.  Their lab test determined that the surface coating contained the compound barium in excess of 0.1%.

Quality and safety are of foremost importance to Schylling and Gracie & Gruff.  We do have the testing from an independent lab that shows this item passed this and all other requirements and that the differing testing methodology of Health Canada may have contributed to this result; however to err on the side of caution an immediate recall has been placed.

Please return this item to any Gracie & Gruff store to receive a full credit for the purchase price.
